Surprise, surprise, President Obama’s extended hand of friendship is not enough for Iran.

Ahmadinejad’s response includes the usual demand for a grovelling apology for this, that, the 1953 coup, the Shah, the weather, stealing his iPod etc.

Is he just letting off steam or is the new President getting the Jimmy Carter treatment?

And any chance of Obama saying: this is what I was talking about in my inaugural address when I mentioned leaders who blame their society’s ills on the West?

UPDATE Hmm. According to The Guardian, there’s a letter being drafted at the State Department which could include a sorry-if-we’ve-offended-you type line, but also a hint to the Iranian people that all this America-baiting has not brought them much in the way of prosperity.
