Conservatives are ecstatic with Gov Palin’s performance. It can’t save the election but it will ensure that the crowds will still come out for her and she’ll walk away from the campaign with her head held high.

Most of the MSM are calling it a win-win debate. Biden has the edge in a couple of early polls (not Frank Luntz’s group, but that’ll be dismissed as just Fox) but Palin was competing not just against him but against her Couric persona. And in that respect she won handily.

The New York Times sums up the MSM view. Quite generous to Palin but that’s probably because they know the election’s in the bag.
